Conditions of use of the Gawler Harness Racing Club Training Complex

The use of GHRC Facilities is a privilege granted by the Club and is granted under conditions set by the Club from time to time.

The Facilities and grounds of the Gawler Harness Racing Club are for use of GHRC members only.

Any other persons wishing to use GHRC facilities will require permission from the Executive of GHRC and pay appropriate fees.

Any person using the Facilities without permission will be deemed to be trespassing and in breach of these Rules, appropriate authorities will be notified forthwith.

The use of the Facilities is at the sole discretion of the Club. The Club may refuse to grant such privilege and may at any time vary, cancel or revoke same.

The Committee reserves the right to amend any or all of these Rules or add or make additional Rules without prior notice but will attempt to inform members as soon as possible.

The Club shall from time to time set out such fees as it deems appropriate for the use of the facilities.

Track Usage

Drivers must wear approved Vests and Helmets at all times. Helmet chinstraps must be fastened.
Main track for fast work only – horses must be hoppled. (trotters excepted)
- No GALLOPING
- No JOGGING
All work to be done on the outside of the witches hats (when out).
No jog carts to be used on the main track.
Only one horse driven and one horse lead by a licenced person at any time on jog tracks.
Horses entering the track are to give way to horses on the track.
Trainers working pre-dawn or after dusk must only work in an anti-clockwise direction. (NOTE: Hi visibility clothing and / or cycle type lighting on bikes is recommended)
No person shall remove or alter the location of any markers, machinery, equipment or obstacles.

Track Availability:

Tracks open 5am to 8:00pm daily.
Main track may be closed at any time by the committee due to inclement weather
Horses must give way to maintenance vehicles on all tracks. – our tracks are maintained by volunteers and we appreciate their availability to perform this task.

Horses:

Standardbred Horses only (Pacers – Trotters) to use main track.
Horses must be under the charge of licensed persons at all times.
Horses must be unloaded / loaded in the designated float parking area and led directly to the horse stalls.
No horse is allowed on the property of the GHRC unless it is wearing a head collar or bridle.
All horses must have a bit in its mouth which must be attached to a lead or reins while being led on any part of GHRC grounds. (A stallion restraint is an acceptable alternative to a bit.)
Horses suffering from any infectious diseases are not permitted on the grounds of the GHRC.

Mini Trotters:

A supervising adult must be adjacent to the track.
All pony trotter drivers must be registered with an recognized pony trot club.
If there is a Harness Horse on the track, all pony trotters must give way to that horse.
